Job Title: Carpenter / Multi-Trade Operative
Job Type: Temp-to-Perm (Potentially Straight Perm)
Site Hours:
Weekdays: 8am–5pm
Optional Weekend Work: Saturdays 8am–2pm
Required Certifications:
CSCS card is essential
Trade qualification or NVQ preferred, but not required (can be assessed individually)
Duties:
Predominantly carpentry work: from small tasks like changing locks to more skilled work like installing fire doors
Other duties: partitioning, drylining, plasterboarding, general builder’s work, minor decoration, making good
Fire door experience is not essential, but candidates with this experience may receive a higher rate
Project Details:
Mostly short-term jobs, generally 1–5 days (some up to a week)
Projects include minor works to offices, residential properties, and commercial units
Around 80% of the work is commercial, mostly in Central London / West End
Remaining 20% is residential, typically in Essex and Kent
Transport Options:
Company van can be provided (day rate would be adjusted slightly lower)
If the operative has their own vehicle, a fuel card will be supplied
Tools & Equipment:
Candidates must supply their own tools
Company will supply main materials for each job
Candidates will receive a company purchase card (typically £100–£500 per job) for additional materials – expenses are tracked via receipt app on iPhone
Working Environment:
Operative will initially work alongside an existing team member
Independence will increase over time as familiarity with processes and expectations grows
Ideal Candidate Location:
Office is based in Chelmsford – ideal if candidates are local, but not a requirement
Most days begin by meeting at the office, but this is flexible based on job location
