Care Officer/ Support Worker/ Health Care AssistantProtocol Education are seeking a Care Officer to join a SEND provision in Chigwell.
This role is for a Residential school, supporting specialist students who have Social/ Emotional/ Mental Health needs from the ages of 5–11 years.
Hours are shown below. These students may have come from distressed or toxic backgrounds. The right candidate will need to be confident with de-escalation strategies, and able to handle challenging behaviours. You must be empathetic and have a good understanding or background in special educational needs, social, emotional, or mental health needs. Resilience and hard work are a must. An outdoors/sports/activity co-ordinator background would be great, as this role entails many outdoor activities.
Responsibilities
Providing quality care for children in a residential setting
Assisting in developing and implementing care plans for each child, ensuring their physical, therapeutic, emotional, and social needs are met
Carrying out daily activities such as meals, recreational activities, and educational programs
Ensuring the health and well-being of children, including administering medication as needed
Maintaining accurate records of each child''s progress, behaviour, and any incidents
Working with parents, guardians, and other professionals involved in the child''s care to ensure a comprehensive approach to wellbeing
Hours
Monday 14:00–20:30
Tuesday and Wednesday 07:00–09:30, returning 14:30–20:30
Thursday 07:00–10:00, returning 12:00–20:30
Friday 07:00–15:00
Requirements and Qualifications
All applicants require appropriate qualifications and training for this role
Experience or background in special educational needs and/or social–emotional, mental health needs
Capability to use de-escalation strategies and manage challenging behaviours
Empathy, resilience, and a willingness to work outdoors; previous outdoors/activities experience is a plus
Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children

Pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay
