About The RoleWe are looking for a dedicated and compassionate
Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAP)
to join our team to cover for Maternity Leave. This role is ideal for a skilled and experienced healthcare professional who is CHAP trained and passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
As a CHAP, you will support Registered Nurses by carrying out a range of clinical interventions under supervision. Your role is key in ensuring our residents receive safe, effective, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
Support Registered Nurses in delivering high standards of care
Administer medication, wound care, catheter care, and other clinical tasks (once trained and assessed as competent)
Assist with clinical procedures such as blood sugar monitoring, PEG/PEJ care, and nursing observations
Record vital signs, food/fluid intake, and maintain patient records accurately
Provide personal care and assist residents with mobility and activities of daily living
Promote dignity, independence, and resident choice in all aspects of care
Support care staff through training, mentoring, and supervision
Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and health and safety practices
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies at all times
About YouEssential
CHAP trained (accredited Care Home Assistant Practitioner Programme completed)
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
Minimum 12 months experience in a similar healthcare role
Experience administering medication and delivering personal care
Comfortable working night shifts
Understanding of MCA and DoLS and how they relate to practice
Able to support residents with complex care needs (e.g., tracheotomy, PEG/PEJ)
Desirable
Phlebotomy skills
Experience supporting people with disabilities or special needs
Previous shift or team supervision experience
