Eckling Grange offers both residential care and independent living in bungalows, fostering a vibrant community where both staff, residents and their families can experience peace, a friendly atmosphere and a sense of belonging.Job Summary:As a care assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping our residents to enjoy a fulfilling life here at the Grange, working alongside your colleagues to ensure that all physical and emotional wellbeing needs are met for all our residents.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care in a way that promotes independence, dignity, privacy, choice and wellbeing.

Cater to the physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of residents using a strengths-based, person-centred approach.

Understand and work to resident care plans.

Safely assist residents with limited mobility using correct moving and assisting techniques and proper use of equipment.

Observe and record residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing, documenting and reporting any changes promptly to your line manager.

Prompt documentation of care and support given, ensuring accurate records are kept of all interactions.

Ensure residents have adequate fluids and nutrition by regularly offering food and drink; assist where necessary. Meet dietary requirements and follow food safety and hygiene regulations.

Build relationships with residents’ family and friends to promote residents’ wellbeing.

Accompany residents to medical appointments, recording and reporting outcomes to senior staff.

Accompany residents on organised trips around Norfolk.

Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to Eckling Grange’s Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, Safe Working Practices and other company procedures.

Maintain confidentiality, adhering to all company policies and procedures relating to GDPR.

Carry out administration tasks such as documenting events and answering the telephone.

Complete the Care Certificate during probationary period where applicable.

Your abilitiesEssential

Compassionate, patient, positive and empathetic attitude toward caring for residents.

Able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others.

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Competent in using an electronic care planning system.

Able to follow instructions and adhere to care plans.

Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.

Self-motivated, with a desire to learn new skills and develop.

Receptive to feedback.

Desirable but not essential

Previous experience in similar setting.

Care certificate

NVQ / Diploma Level 2 or higher in Health and Social Care.

Physical Requirements

Ability to carry out moving and assisting of residents.

Capable of being on your feet for a full working day.

Hours and Work Environment

Residential care home, specialised dementia care and sheltered accommodation on site.

Days, nights, weekends and evening shifts are available. Availability and preferred working pattern will be discussed during application.

*Pay per hour is £12.30 - £12.92 per hour, depending on qualifications and completion of 6-month probation period. The starting pay is £12.30 per hour without NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care and £12.53 per hour with NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care.
