Join us as a

Care Assistant Apprentice

and become part of a dedicated team creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for older people and adults with learning disabilities. You’ll play a vital role in helping individuals achieve maximum independence, freedom, and choice in their daily lives.

In this hands-on role, you’ll provide personalised care—covering physical, emotional, and social needs—in line with each person’s Care and Support Plan. You’ll be based at a location set by your manager, but will also work flexibly across different sites within the borough to ensure high-quality support wherever it’s needed.

We’re looking for a compassionate and committed

Care Assistant Apprentice

to support older people and adults with learning disabilities in a way that promotes independence, choice, and dignity. You’ll provide physical, emotional, and social care tailored to individual needs, working as part of a team to ensure the highest standards of support.

You’ll be confident communicating with residents, carers, and colleagues, able to keep accurate records, contribute to assessments, and advocate on behalf of the people you care for. With guidance from senior staff, you’ll also assist in the safe administration of medication.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same—you’ll work flexibly across different sites in the borough, adapting to changing needs, and supporting the service during unforeseen situations. You’ll be trained in safe moving and handling techniques, follow health and safety regulations, and actively recognise and challenge discrimination.

To be eligible, applicants must have resided in the EEA, Switzerland, Gibraltar or the UK for at least the previous 3 years before the start of the apprenticeship.

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
