CAD Technician

Our client, an innovative organisation in the aerospace and unmanned aviation sector, is seeking a CAD Technician to join its Engineering team on a permanent basis. The role will support the development of a large fixed-wing UAV platform, working closely with Design, Manufacturing and Systems Engineers to produce accurate 3D models, engineering drawings, Bills of Materials and product data throughout the development lifecycle.

• Creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, assemblies and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings to support prototype and production builds.
• Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BoMs) and associated engineering documentation.
• Managing engineering data and supporting configuration control processes through PDM and PLM systems.
• Working with engineers to implement design changes while maintaining design integrity and accuracy.
• Supporting drawing release, revision control and document management activities.
• Ensuring CAD models and drawings comply with company standards, engineering requirements and best practice.
• Supporting prototype build activities by resolving drawing, modelling and documentation issues, while working safely and professionally.

• HNC, HND, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Design or a related discipline.
• Professional experience producing engineering drawings and CAD models.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
• Experience creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Good understanding of engineering documentation, Bills of Materials and revision control.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and a methodical approach to work.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Right to work in the UK, with the ability to travel to EU and non-EU territories where required.

• Experience within aerospace, UAV, defence, automotive, motorsport or another high-technology engineering environment.
• Familiarity with PDM or PLM systems and configuration management processes.
• Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, composites and assembly manufacturing processes.
• Experience supporting prototype development programmes.
• Awareness of vetting and security clearance requirements associated with engineering and aerospace projects.
