CAD Technician/ Flooring Designer

Net-Temps are recruiting for a Flooring Designer to join our client''s growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused individual with CAD experience and a background in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or precast concrete.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate flooring designs and estimates for precast concrete projects. Working closely with design, estimating, sales, production and project teams, you will interpret technical drawings, prepare take-offs, manage design revisions and help deliver projects within demanding timescales.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects while developing specialist knowledge within a well-established and growing business.

Location: Ipswich (IP6)
Salary: -25,000 - -30,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am-5pm

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate flooring designs and estimates using bespoke design and estimating software.
• Use CAD software to review architectural and engineering drawings and prepare accurate material take-offs.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and technical information to identify project requirements.
• Raise queries where information is incomplete, unclear or requires clarification.
• Prepare design outputs and supporting documentation in line with company standards and project requirements.
• Manage amendments and design revisions, ensuring all updates are accurately communicated to relevant teams.
• Work closely with design, estimating, sales, production and project teams to achieve project deadlines.
• Prioritise and manage multiple live projects while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintain organised project records, estimates, drawings and revision histories.
• Ensure all work is completed within agreed timescales without compromising quality.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to team objectives.
• Follow company policies and relevant health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.

What We''re Looking For

• Experience using CAD software within a construction, engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately.
• Experience producing designs, estimates, quotations or material take-offs.
• Strong numerical, analytical and spatial awareness skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to work.
• Confident using specialist software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet strict deadlines.
• Positive and proactive attitude with a willingness to support colleagues.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within the precast concrete industry.
• Knowledge of flooring design, structural components or construction products.
• Experience working within a technical design or estimating environment.
• Understanding of construction drawings, specifications and building standards.
