Job Purpose Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cable & AV Engineer to join our field-based team in Sheffield. The primary purpose of this role is to carry out all Cable, AV, and CCTV installation work to a high standard, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, upholding health and safety best practices, and continuously developing your skills in a dynamic industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert, field-based labour for the installation and maintenance of AV, structured cabling, IT decant, and CCTV systems.
- Work with Cat5, Cat6, and Cat6a cabling, with a strong understanding of best practices for termination and testing.
- Attend assigned service calls to efficiently fault-find and provide effective resolutions for our clients.
- Keep clients informed of work progress and manage expectations throughout the project or service call.
- Adhere to all legal and industry requirements, including mandatory certifications such as IPAF and PASMA.
- Actively participate in training, skill development, and certification modules to stay current with relevant technologies.
- Ensure accurate scheduling and recording of all billable hours and project-related documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive Risk Assessments before commencing any work to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Comply with all Health & Safety practices, laws, and training to ensure your own safety and that of those around you.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar field-based role.
- Proven Expertise in installing, terminating, and fault-finding structured cabling systems.
- Experience with the installation and configuration of AV and CCTV systems.
- Hold a valid UK driving license.
- Valid IPAF and PASMA certifications are required; additional certifications are a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to resolve technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanour when interacting with clients.
- A strong commitment to safety and a working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
