Learning Support Assistant (LSA) | Mainstream Primary School in Chesham | Full-Time | September Start
Supply Desk is seeking a compassionate and motivated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Chesham this September. This full-time role involves providing focused support to pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access the curriculum and thrive in the classroom.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and wants to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners. The school has a strong, collaborative staff team and a nurturing approach to learning.
Job Description:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils, including those with SEN, within a mainstream classroom setting.
- Support the implementation of tailored learning strategies and contribute to Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and EHCPs.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt lessons and learning activities.
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional well-being through consistent, supportive interactions.
- Encourage independence and full participation in school life, academically and socially.
- Help maintain an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with staff, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development.
- Attend training, team meetings, and contribute to the wider school community.
Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience supporting children with SEN (preferred but not essential).
- Be patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping all children succeed.
- Understand inclusive education and know how to adapt learning approaches.
- Be confident in supporting positive behaviour and building rapport with pupils.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
- Be proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic about contributing to school life.
- Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
- Be open to training in safeguarding, SEN awareness, and first aid.
