What about working directly alongside a trading desk, where you can see the impact of what you build - sometimes immediately? You''ll be joining a front-office technology environment supporting traders, combining software development with the kind of rapid problem-solving that comes from sitting alongside your users. This isn''t a role where every requirement arrives neatly packaged in a ticket. A trader may come to you because an application isn''t behaving as expected, they need a tool adapting for a particular trade, or something needs investigating quickly. You''ll need to understand what they''re trying to achieve and work out the technical answer. Alongside this, you''ll spend time developing and improving the tools used by the desk, predominantly using C#/.NET, with Python, VBA and Excel also forming part of the wider environment.
