- Challenge supplier price increases and negotiate discounts, rebates and more favourable commercial agreements.
- Monitor stock levels, demand forecasts and lead times to maintain continuity of supply while minimising excess inventory and obsolescence.
- Manage purchase orders and supplier commitments, ensuring deliveries meet production requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory information within the company''s business systems.
- Monitor supplier performance, proactively resolving delivery issues and escalating concerns where necessary.
- Work closely with internal departments, including Production, Quality and Commercial, to ensure purchasing decisions support business requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers to address quality issues, investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve stock management and supply chain efficiency through approaches such as Kanban, vendor-managed inventory and minimum/maximum stock controls.
- Monitor purchasing price variations and work with the Commercial team to ensure changes are accurately communicated.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and wider procurement projects.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Buyer, Purchasing or Procurement role, preferably within manufacturing or engineering.
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable supplier terms.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance.
- An understanding of stock control, inventory management, demand forecasting and purchasing lead times.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate purchasing records.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement and managing supply chain risks.

We want someone who takes ownership of their purchasing activities, is confident negotiating with suppliers and understands the importance of balancing cost, quality and delivery.
