A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Materials Buyer to join a well-established specialist brickwork contractor based in the Chigwell/Essex area. 
 
Due to ongoing growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, the company is looking to strengthen its procurement team with an individual who has a strong understanding of brickwork, masonry materials and the supply chain that supports large-scale construction projects.
 
This role will be instrumental in ensuring materials are procured competitively, delivered on time and managed effectively across multiple sites. The successful candidate will become a key part of the business and play an important role in supporting project delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
 
The Role

• Procuring brickwork and associated construction materials for multiple live projects
• Obtaining competitive quotations and negotiating with suppliers
• Raising and managing purchase orders
• Coordinating deliveries to meet project programmes and site requirements
• Building and maintaining relationships with brick, block and construction material suppliers
• Monitoring material costs and identifying value engineering opportunities
• Working closely with commercial, operational and site teams
• Managing stock levels and lead times to avoid programme delays
• Resolving supply chain issues and sourcing alternative materials when necessary
• Maintaining accurate procurement records and reporting information

You''ll Also Have

• Previous experience as a Materials Buyer, Construction Buyer or Assistant Buyer
• A strong background in brickwork, masonry or specialist subcontracting
• Good knowledge of bricks, blocks, mortar and associated construction materials
• Experience working within the construction industry
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Good commercial awareness and cost control knowledge
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach
