Join a Market-Leading FM Provider as Business Unit Director Are you a strategic and commercially focused leader with deep experience in hard services facilities management? We’re recruiting for a Business Unit Director to lead the delivery and performance of our largest and most prestigious FM contract—a high-value, technically complex account based in Central London, with operations based out of Surrey.
This is a high-impact leadership role, offering full P&L accountability and senior-level stakeholder engagement across a blue-chip client environment. You''ll be responsible for managing all aspects of planned and reactive engineering services, compliance, contract growth, and operational excellence across a large multi-site portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of all hard FM services across a major strategic contract, ensuring compliance, safety, and performance standards are consistently exceeded.
- Manage a high-performing operational team, including contract managers, engineers, and support staff, across multiple commercial buildings.
- Develop and maintain strong senior client relationships, attending regular governance meetings and acting as the key point of escalation.
- Drive financial performance, overseeing budgets, reporting, cost control, and forecasting. Deliver profitability while identifying growth opportunities.
- Ensure all statutory compliance, technical audits, and planned maintenance schedules are met across the estate.
- Identify and implement service innovations and technical improvements that enhance client value and operational efficiency.
- Support mobilisation of new services or upgrades, ensuring smooth transition and minimal disruption.
- Develop and lead a positive, performance-driven culture within the business unit, supporting talent development and succession planning.
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within hard services FM, ideally as a Business Unit Director, Operations Director, or Senior Account Manager.
- Strong technical understanding of building services, including M&E, HVAC, BMS, and statutory compliance within large-scale commercial environments.
- Track record of delivering large, complex contracts (value of £10m+), ideally in the central London commercial sector.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging at board and executive level.
- Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable experience in P&L ownership, financial planning, and contract performance improvement.
- Inspirational leadership style with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop diverse operational teams.
- Based within a commutable distance to Surrey and comfortable with frequent travel to Central London sites.
