An opportunity has arisen within our Business Fire Safety Department in Barnsley for a Business Fire Safety Inspecting Officer, either fully qualified to Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Auditor) or willing to work on a development pathway to gain the qualification. Business Fire Safety Inspecting Officer Location: Barnsley Base Covering South Yorkshire Hours: Full Time 37 Hours per week (Flexi Time) Contract: Permanent Salary: Starting from £26,403 for training candidates. Rising to £36,363 - £39,152 per annum for qualified candidates (Grades 4 - 7) from training to qualified To increase subject to national pay award negotiations for 2026. The overall purpose of the role will be to contribute to the risk reduction aims and objectives of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, and the discharge of its statutory fire protection duties and responsibilities by: Undertaking regulatory fire safety inspections, and related activities.
