The Highfield Company is currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join a well-established and highly regarded name within the steel construction industry.

This is a newly created opportunity focused on developing business across Rail and their Special Projects, with the successful candidate playing an important role in identifying new opportunities, developing client relationships and supporting the continued growth of the business.

You''ll be responsible for developing new business opportunities, building strong relationships with existing and prospective clients and identifying upcoming projects across the rail and wider special projects sectors.

The role will involve a combination of office-based work and being out on the road, meeting clients, attending industry events and developing new opportunities.

Ideally, the successful candidate will spend some time office-based in the South initially, getting to know the business, its capabilities and the wider team before becoming increasingly client-facing.

• Business Development / Sales experience within construction, engineering or a related sector.
• Steel experience is not essential.
• Experience within cladding, subcontracting, construction, engineering or other relevant sectors would be highly transferable.
• Strong commercial awareness and an ability to identify new business opportunities.
• Confident building and maintaining relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Comfortable being client-facing and travelling to meetings and projects.
• A proactive, driven and personable approach.
• Candidates at different levels will be considered - the business is open to an experienced BDM as well as someone earlier in their career who has the right industry background and potential to develop.
