Business Development Manager - Folkestone

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join an established customs organisation based in Folkestone, supporting the continued commercial growth of the business by identifying and converting new customer opportunities.

Working closely with internal teams, you will develop new B2B business opportunities, build strong customer relationships and support the delivery of an effective customs brokerage sales strategy.

Benefits include a salary of circa -40,000 depending on experience, plus commission.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of an effective sales strategy to drive business growth.
  • Identify and convert new sales opportunities through lead generation, networking and market research.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Research market trends, competitor activity and new territories to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Attend trade shows, exhibitions and industry events to develop new contacts and generate leads.
  • Conduct client visits, product demonstrations and presentations to prospective customers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the CRM system.
  • Produce regular reports on new client progress and prospect pipelines to support management decision-making and future planning.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including marketing and customer support, to ensure a seamless customer experience.

About You

  • Proven success in a B2B sales or business development role, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Previous experience within the customs industry is essential.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email systems.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Collaborative and customer-focused, with a proactive and commercially driven approach.
  • Self-motivated, confident and able to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
