Business Development Manager

This is a genuine opportunity to shape the growth of an ambitious, well-established London design and build contractor. The business has spent over 12 years building a reputation for premium quality and craftsmanship across residential and commercial developments, with 25 plus completed projects across the capital and a growing pipeline of live schemes.
The contractor is directly employed, holds full ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations, and is a member of the Federation of Master Builders and Constructionline. Projects typically start at -750k and cover the full design and build spectrum, from early contractor involvement through to handover. The team runs multiple concurrent projects across London and the surrounding areas, and the ambition is to grow that portfolio meaningfully over the next two to three years.
This role has been created to drive that growth. As BDM, you will own the front end of the pipeline, building relationships with developers, investors, architects and consultants and converting those relationships into signed contracts. This is a strategic hire and a real opportunity for a self-directed BDM to take genuine ownership of a growth function within a business that has the delivery infrastructure to back it up.

Business Development Manager Job Overview

• Take ownership of new business generation across the residential and commercial design and build sectors
• Identify, target and win work with developers, investors, architects and consultants across London
• Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities that support the company''s growth ambitions
• Represent the business at industry events, networking sessions and client meetings
• Work closely with senior leadership on strategy, market positioning and go-to-market planning
• Support the preparation of tenders, proposals and pitch documentation
• Manage client relationships from first contact through to contract signing and handover to delivery
• Track market activity, competitor movements and emerging opportunities within London
• Report on pipeline, forecast conversion and business development performance

Business Development Manager Requirements

• Proven business development experience within a construction, design and build, or main contractor environment
• Strong existing network of relevant contacts across the London property, development and construction sectors
• Confident selling design and build services with values from -750k upwards
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Self-motivated and comfortable operating with autonomy
• Commercially astute with a clear understanding of how construction projects are won and delivered
• Based within sensible distance of London and the office in the SM6 area
• Full UK driving licence
