Business Development Director – The Role

Working closely with the senior leadership and pre-construction teams, you will play a key role in identifying, developing and securing new construction opportunities across the South West.

The role will focus on building relationships with architects, consultants, developers and end-user clients, generating opportunities across both new build and refurbishment sectors.

Key responsibilities include:

• Identifying and developing new business opportunities across the South West.
• Building and maintaining relationships with architects, consultants, developers and end users.
• Utilising existing industry contacts to generate project leads and tender opportunities.
• Developing relationships with both new and existing clients.
• Working closely with estimating, pre-construction and operational teams to convert opportunities into secured projects.
• Monitoring regional construction markets, upcoming developments and potential opportunities.
• Representing the business at networking events, industry functions and client meetings.
• Supporting the company’s long-term business development and growth strategy.

Business Development Director  – The Person

We are looking for an experienced construction Business Development Manager with a strong understanding of the South West main contracting market.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous business development experience working for a construction main contractor.
• A strong network of contacts across the South West construction industry.
• Established relationships with architects, consultants, developers and end-user clients.
• Experience generating opportunities across new build and refurbishment projects.
• A good understanding of the construction tendering and pre-construction process.
• Excellent communication, networking and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, commercially minded approach to identifying and securing new business.

Main contracting business development experience is essential. Candidates should already have an established network within the South West construction market and understand how to develop opportunities through to tender and contract award.
