Building Survyeor

MMP Consultancy is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor for a 12-month contract opportunity based in South East London. This role is offering -450 per day and is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor with a strong social housing background to support the review and delivery of major works programmes across a large residential portfolio.

Working within a Planned Maintenance team, you''ll provide professional building surveying expertise across major works, asset improvement and refurbishment programmes. A key focus of the role will be reviewing completed investment works, identifying lessons learned, assessing asset condition and providing technical recommendations to support future investment strategies and service improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out inspections of residential properties and communal areas across housing estates.
• Assess the quality, standard and effectiveness of completed major works projects.
• Identify building defects, maintenance issues, damp and mould concerns, and fire safety risks.
• Undertake post-inspections and desktop reviews of completed planned maintenance and investment programmes.
• Prepare detailed survey reports, schedules of works and technical recommendations.
• Manage and oversee remedial works arising from identified defects.
• Review feasibility studies, designs and specifications for future planned maintenance projects.
• Provide professional building surveying advice on major works and refurbishment programmes.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure projects are delivered to the required quality standards.
• Review contract administration processes, variations, valuations and final accounts.
• Ensure compliance with building safety legislation, contractual requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Investigate complaints and provide technical responses to residents and stakeholders.
• Produce reports for senior management and contribute to future asset management planning.

Requirements:

• Qualified Building Surveyor with experience within social housing, housing maintenance or planned works.
• Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of housing legislation including the Housing Act, Landlord & Tenant Act, Decent Homes Standard and Awaab''s Law.
• Experience managing housing refurbishment, planned maintenance or major works programmes.
• Strong understanding of building safety, fire safety and compliance requirements.
• Experience administering and managing building contracts and contractor performance.
• Proven project management experience across residential property portfolios.
• Excellent report writing and technical assessment skills.
• Experience engaging with residents, leaseholders, contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of contract management, budget control and project delivery.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other property management systems.
