Building Safety Consultant

Building Safety ConsultantWe are seeking a highly skilled Building Safety Consultant to join the Engineering division. We require an experienced professional to support the Team, who will help grow the Building Safety and Management Systems Team, delivering projects and developing good client relationships.Working across a variety of projects both autonomously and as part of a wider Team, tasks you will be required to undertake as part of your role include (but are not limited to):Conduct comprehensive building safety and fire risk assessments for diverse structuresDevelop and implement fire safety strategies and building safety plansProvide expert advice on building regulations, fire safety legislation, and industry best practicesCollaborate with architects, engineers and contractors to integrate safety measures into building designs and renovationsPrepare detailed reports and presentations for clients and stakeholdersStay up to date with the latest developments in building and fire safety regulations and technologiesRepresent SOCOTEC in industry forums and professional bodiesHere at SOCOTEC, we deliver excellence to our customers by recruiting and retaining the very best industry talent. To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:Bachelor’s degree in Fire Engineering, Building Safety or related field; Master’s degree preferredMinimum 10 years of experience in building safety and fire safety rolesChartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g. CIOB, RICS, IFE)In-depth knowledge of UK building regulations, fire safety legislation, and international safety standardsConstruction technology experience – understanding of modern building methods, materials and techniques to facilitate comprehensive assessments and informed decision-makingKnowledge/experience in fire safety design and passive fire protection systemsSafety assessment – knowledge of how to evaluate building safety and energy efficiencyHealth and safety – knowledge of regulations and best practices related to occupational health and safety in buildingsExperience in delivering multi-disciplinary projectsStrong analytical abilities – required to evaluate structures, assess potential risks and devise effective solutions for various building-related issues or defectsFire safety assessment experienceFire risk assessment experienceCommercial knowledge – development of MDT fee proposalsKnowledge of European health, safety and fire legislation and standardsDesirable:Knowledge of the component parts of a Building Safety CaseExperience in the production of a Residents Engagement Strategy and / or Mandatory Occurrence Reporting strategySOCOTEC is the UK''s leading provider of testing, inspection and certification services.
