  • Carry out routine inspections and reactive checks of buildings, facilities and equipment, taking appropriate action where required.
  • Undertake basic maintenance tasks and repairs, escalating issues to specialist contractors when necessary.
  • Liaise with contractors to coordinate maintenance and repair works, supporting safe access and monitoring activity on site.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, defects, maintenance activity and completed works.
  • Support health and safety processes, including inspections, audits, compliance checks and local risk assessment activity.
  • Promote safe working practices and escalate significant risks or safety concerns through the appropriate channels.
  • Provide first-line support for routine IT and equipment issues, escalating more complex matters where required.
  • Use relevant systems to record maintenance requests, compliance activity and operational information.
  • Act as a first point of contact for building and facilities queries, resolving routine issues and coordinating support where needed.
  • Contribute to operational projects and support colleagues across the wider Building and Technical Services team as required.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience working within a building, maintenance or facilities environment.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and respond to changing demands.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and sound judgement when resolving day-to-day issues.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with students, colleagues, contractors and service teams.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting maintenance and contractor activity.
  • Good digital skills, including experience using operational, record-keeping or maintenance management systems.
  • A practical understanding of health and safety requirements relevant to building and maintenance activities.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a wider team.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.

To support campus operations and student activity, this full-time role requires flexibility to work shifts between 8:00AM and 9:00PM, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work required.
