Building & Construction Project Leader
MERITUS are recruiting for a Building & Construction Project Manager to join our client within the defence sector on a 12-month contract from their site in Stevenage. This role requires candidates to be eligible for BPSS clearance, with current SC clearance being highly advantageous. UK Nationals only.
BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER - INSIDE IR35 - -40 PER HOUR - STEVENAGE - 12 MONTHS - BPSS/SC CLEARANCE - CAPEX PROJECTS - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS - SECTOR: DEFENCE
This position operates on a standard 37-hour week across 4.5 days, working between 07:00 and 19:00 subject to business requirements. Occasional travel may be required, along with site attendance when project demands dictate.
As a Building & Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading CAPEX and infrastructure projects from initial feasibility through to final handover. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will manage the delivery of refurbishment, building services and plant replacement projects, ensuring successful outcomes against cost, quality and schedule objectives.
You will lead project teams through design, specification, procurement and construction phases whilst managing stakeholders, external contractors and professional service providers. The role requires a strong understanding of construction project delivery, health and safety compliance and stakeholder engagement within complex operational environments.
Skillset/experience required:
What can you bring to the role?
- Proven experience delivering construction, infrastructure or building services projects from inception through to handover
- Strong project management background within construction, facilities management or engineering environments
- Experience managing CAPEX projects and controlling project budgets
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and external contractors
- Experience developing scopes of work, specifications and project delivery plans
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services
- Experience managing risks, opportunities and project governance activities
- Understanding of construction health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience monitoring site works and contractor performance
- Strong reporting, presentation and project documentation skills
- Experience using MS Project, SharePoint or similar project management tools
- SMSTS, CCNSG or NEBOSH qualifications would be advantageous
- Defence sector experience would be highly beneficial
- Previous experience working on large operational or manufacturing sites would be advantageous
