Job Title: Breakfast Club/After School Club Assistant

Location: East of York

Salary: -13.3815.38 p/h

Job Type: Full time

We are currently seeking a caring and enthusiastic individual to join the team at a lovely village school located just east of York. This rewarding role involves supporting both the Breakfast Club and After School Club, helping to create a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage children during Breakfast and After School Club sessions, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast/snacks, promoting healthy eating habits and good table manners.
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and quiet time, that support children''s social and emotional development.
  • Support positive behaviour, using appropriate strategies to encourage cooperation, kindness, and respect among children.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times, following safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
  • Set up and tidy away resources and equipment before and after sessions, maintaining a clean and organised space.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff, fostering a sense of community and trust.
  • Assist with record-keeping, such as attendance registers and incident reports, as required by the school.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with children.
  • Friendly, reliable, and approachable with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).
  • Previous experience in a childcare or school setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
