Breakdown & Service Engineer

Our client is a company who specialise in providing vertical access solutions, including elevators, construction hoists, and work platforms, primarily for industrial and construction applications.
As a Breakdown & Service Engineer you will be carrying out maintenance, fault-finding, repairs, and provide technical support on products across the UK, ensuring all tasks are completed in line with internal and external customer requirements.
Location: M25 Area, will also cover anywhere in the UK.
Salary: Starting at -45,000 (depending on experience)
Hours 8am-5pm Mon-Fri (1-hour unpaid break) Overtime available
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and technical support on Alimak products across the UK.
- If authorised, perform inspections, tests, commissioning, training, and site surveys.
- Complete all paperwork (e.g. reports, timesheets) accurately and on time.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, training, and safety systems.
- Represent Alimak UK professionally in appearance, behaviour, and conduct on customer sites.
- Follow all site-specific rules and procedures when working at customer locations.
- Be flexible to meet business and customer needs, including working extra hours or staying away from home.
- Take part in the emergency out-of-hours standby rota when required.
- Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, customer service, and efficiency.
- Take part in training and share knowledge to support team development.
- Follow all responsibilities under the company''s Health & Safety Management System.
- Maintain good communication and relationships with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
- Carry out other relevant field or workshop tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years'' experience in a relevant engineering or technical field
- Proven electrical knowledge supported by relevant professional qualifications
- Experience with construction, industrial, access, or capital equipment (preferred)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team
- Strong technical learning and problem-solving skills
- Analytical and fact-based approach to decision making
- Clear, concise reporting and documentation skills
- Full UK driving licence essential
- Flexibility for travel and overnight stays required
