Bookkeeper

An established and growing accountancy practice is looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join its friendly and professional team.

This is a varied role supporting a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from sole traders and partnerships to limited companies. The successful candidate will ideally be based 3 days per week in Bedford, 1 day in Huntingdon and 1 day in St Neots, with occasional travel to client premises where required.

Key Responsibilities

* Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients

* Preparing sales and purchase ledgers and completing bank reconciliations

* Preparing monthly and quarterly VAT returns

* Visiting client premises to set up and maintain computerised bookkeeping systems

* Providing training and support to clients using bookkeeping software

statutory payments

* Processing CIS data

* Providing technical support to colleagues where required

The ideal candidate will have:             

* Previous experience in a bookkeeping role within an accountancy practice or similar environment

* Strong working knowledge of cloud-based bookkeeping software, including Xero, QuickBooks Online and Sage

* Excellent communication and client relationship skills

* A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

* A professional and personable manner
