BIM Manager
BIM Manager
Greater Manchester
Excellent salary package - Flexible working arrangements
Are you an experienced BIM professional who enjoys being as involved in strategy and governance as you are in practical project delivery?
We are working with a highly respected multidisciplinary design and engineering business operating within the life sciences sector, and they are looking to appoint a BIM Manager with an architectural bias to take ownership of BIM and information management across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond simply managing models and systems and play a genuinely influential role in shaping how BIM and information management are delivered across a growing, technically complex organisation.
The Opportunity
You will take ownership of information management and BIM practice, working closely with design, engineering and project delivery teams across both design and installation environments.
The business already has strong foundations in place, so this isn''t a case of starting from scratch. Instead, you''ll have the opportunity to build on and mature existing BIM processes, improving consistency, governance and adoption while ensuring that standards remain proportionate and practical.
You''ll have a strategic remit, but this is very much a hands-on role. You''ll need to be comfortable developing standards and processes while also understanding the realities of delivering live multidisciplinary projects.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of BIM and information management practices across the business.
- Develop and continually improve BIM governance, processes, standards and workflows.
- Ensure the consistent and proportionate application of BIM across projects and systems.
- Support design and installation teams with practical BIM and information management guidance.
- Help mature the organisation''s approach to information management in line with ISO 19650 principles.
- Monitor and respond to ongoing developments within the ISO 19650 suite.
- Contribute to the organisation''s future BIM accreditation roadmap.
- Promote best practice and consistency across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, designers, project managers and delivery teams.
- Provide guidance, support and knowledge-sharing to improve BIM capability across the wider business.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and information workflows.
- Balance compliance and governance requirements with the practical needs of project delivery.
What we''re looking for
You''ll ideally have at least three years'' experience within a multidisciplinary design practice, with a strong understanding of how BIM and information management operate across real projects.
We''re particularly interested in candidates who can combine technical BIM knowledge with strong architectural understanding and who enjoy working with people as much as systems.
You should have:
- Strong knowledge of ISO 19650 principles and information management within the built environment.
- Proven experience applying BIM and information management on live projects.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary design environment.
- An architectural bias/background, with a good understanding of design processes and workflows.
- The ability to translate BIM standards and governance into practical, workable processes.
- Confidence working with design, engineering and project delivery teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- The ability to influence and drive positive change without unnecessarily overcomplicating processes.
Why consider this opportunity?
This is more than a conventional BIM management position. You''ll have the opportunity to shape and influence the future BIM and information management strategy of an established multidisciplinary business, while remaining close enough to live projects to see the impact of your work.
You''ll be joining an organisation operating on technically demanding life sciences projects, where effective coordination, information management and digital delivery are critical to successful outcomes.
For the right person, this represents an opportunity to take genuine ownership of BIM, work with a broad range of technical professionals and help develop a more mature, consistent and future-ready approach to information management.
Interested?
If you''re an experienced BIM professional with an architectural bias who is looking for a role offering ownership, influence and the opportunity to shape BIM practice rather than simply administer it, we''d be very interested in hearing from you.
