Behaviour Support Worker
New Directions Education, are recruiting for a pool of passionate, supportive and engaged Behaviour Support Workers, to work across Wakefield. This role is a fantastic opportunity for people who are dedicated in supporting learners to thrive within the classroom and outdoor learning facilities.
We are looking for people who are :
- Knowledge of trauma-informed approached and therapeutic behaviour support.
- Trained in Team-Teach or other behaviour intervention methods
- Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA)
- Teaching Assistants-with proven classroom experience who are ready to step up.
Job Specification
Working as a Behaviour Support worker can be a very rewarding but also a very demanding role. This role involves working closely with teaching staff, therapists, outside agencies such as social workers, also pastoral teams to promote positive behaviour plans ensuring a safe and supporting learning environment for learners.
Ideally, candidates will be required to:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for learners.
- Apply behaviour management strategies and individual behaviour support plans.
- De-escalate challenging behaviour using approved techniques such as positive regard/team teach.
- Promote emotion regulation and positive peer relationships.
- Contribute to multi-agency meetings and reviews for individual learners.
- Attend regular supervision and training sessions held by education setting (CPD).
- Record and report behavioural/safeguarding incidents accurately in line with individual school policies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure.
