Are you passionate about supporting young adults with Special Educational Needs in a unique and enriching environment? GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join a local school in Poole as a Behaviour Support Worker immediately.
About the School
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping young adults manage their behaviours and develop essential life and vocational skills. You’ll work closely with educators and therapists to support students in both classroom and outdoor settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in managing emotions and behaviours through structured routines.
- Provide tailored assistance in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Promote independence, safety, and mutual respect in all interactions.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement individual support plans.
- Observe and document student behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing.
Requirements
- Experience working with young people, ideally in a SEN or vocational setting.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies.
- A valid driving license and willingness to drive is essential for this role.
To work with GSL Education as a Behaviour Support Worker, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
