Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced and resilient Behaviour Support Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in Salford, starting ASAP.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours and achieve their full potential.
Please note: previous experience working in schools or education is essential.
We are specifically looking for candidates who have a proven background working within schools, colleges or other recognised educational settings. Applications from candidates without previous education-based experience will not be considered.
Experience working within SEN provisions, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), alternative provision or specialist educational settings is highly desirable, particularly for candidates who have supported pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
The Role
As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play an important role in helping pupils manage their behaviour, develop positive relationships and engage more effectively with their education.
You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and the school''s wider support network to provide consistent, appropriate and nurturing support to pupils who may require additional intervention.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions and manage challenging behaviour.
Building positive, professional relationships with pupils and acting as a consistent and trusted adult.
Helping pupils re-engage with learning and develop positive attitudes towards education.
Supporting pupils who may be at risk of disengagement, exclusion or persistent absence.
Implementing behaviour support strategies in line with school policies and individual pupil needs.
Working alongside teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to promote positive outcomes.
Supporting pupils during lessons, social times and other periods where additional behavioural support may be required.
Encouraging pupils to develop independence, resilience, confidence and appropriate social skills.
De-escalating challenging situations calmly and professionally.
Maintaining appropriate boundaries and consistently reinforcing the school''s expectations.
Contributing to a positive, safe and inclusive school environment.
Maintaining accurate records and communicating relevant information to appropriate members of staff.

The successful candidate will be calm, patient, resilient and confident when working with young people who may present with challenging behaviour or additional needs.
