Job Responsibilities as a Behavioural Support Assistant

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students who may display challenging behaviour, emotional difficulties, or additional learning needs.
• Support students in developing positive behaviour, emotional regulation, confidence, independence, and social skills.
• Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to implement individual behaviour support plans and strategies.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students, providing consistent encouragement, reassurance, and guidance.

What we''re looking for in a Behavioural Support Assistant

• Compassionate and empathetic - able to understand and respond sensitively to students with behavioural and emotional needs.
• Patient and supportive - able to provide consistent reassurance, encouragement, and boundaries when students are experiencing challenging behaviours.
• Excellent communication skills - able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents/carers, and other professionals.
• Emotionally resilient - able to remain calm, professional, and composed when supporting students experiencing distress or challenging behaviour.
