Behaviour Support Assistant

We are seeking a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Colne. This full-time position is due to start in-May-and will be a long-term supply role. The school prides itself on its nurturing environment, strong pastoral ethos, and commitment to helping every pupil succeed both academically and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group behaviour support to pupils with additional needs
• Assist the class teacher in maintaining a positive, structured learning environment
• Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised plans
• Help promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive engagement
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams to ensure consistent support

Pre-requisites

• Relevant qualifications for working within an educational setting
• Proven experience of supporting pupils with behavioural, SEMH, or additional learning needs
• Strong knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies
• Two education or school-based references
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations
