We are working with a well-regarded Secondary School in Braintree, rated GOOD by Ofsted, that is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant. This school is committed to providing a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student is supported to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Job Overview:

  • This school caters for students aged 11-16.
  • Full-time, Monday - Friday Behaviour Support Assistant role.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students displaying challenging behaviour.
  • Support students with SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties, and barriers to learning.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and interventions in line with school policies.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and progress.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and senior leaders.
  • Support students both in lessons and during unstructured times throughout the school day.
  • Monitor and record student behaviour, attendance, and progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, self-regulation, and emotional wellbeing.

What We''re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, residential care, or support settings.
  • Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, or additional needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Calm, patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations confidently and professionally.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.
  • Strong teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
