Behaviour Mentor - Hillingdon
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEN/SEMH setting in Hillingdon, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, behavioural challenges and additional learning needs.
The successful candidate will build positive relationships with pupils, provide consistent behavioural and pastoral support, and help learners develop the confidence, resilience and strategies they need to engage successfully with education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour and pastoral support, helping pupils manage emotions and develop positive behavioural strategies.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils experiencing SEN, SEMH and challenging behaviour.
- Implement behaviour support plans and use effective de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies.
- Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to monitor behaviour, engagement and pupil progress.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment while encouraging attendance, engagement, confidence and resilience.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people within an education, SEN, SEMH, youth work or pastoral setting.
- Experience working with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation or social and emotional needs.
- Strong understanding of positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with a calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Relevant SEN, Behaviour, Education, Youth Work or Pastoral qualifications are desirable; an Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one is essential.
