About the Role

Teach South is recruiting Behaviour Mentors to work across specialist and alternative education settings in Worthing. These full-time or part-time temporary roles involve delivering consistent 1:1 support for pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs. Mentors will build positive relationships, helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve success in and beyond the classroom. Candidates with backgrounds in care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or residential support are particularly welcome. This position offers a monthly salary between £1750 and £1800, with opportunities to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives.

Teach South Sussex is currently recruiting dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentors to work across specialist provisions and alternative education settings throughout West Sussex.
We are looking for individuals who can build positive relationships with pupils and provide consistent 1:1 support for children and young people with behavioural, social and emotional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
We're particularly keen to hear from candidates with backgrounds in care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, residential support, or similar roles where managing challenging behaviour and supporting young people has been a key part of the job.
The Role:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with behavioural challenges.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and progress.
  • Supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom.
  • Working closely with teachers and wider pastoral teams to implement behaviour strategies.
  • Promoting a safe, calm and supportive learning environment.
We're Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people with behavioural, social or emotional needs.
  • Confidence in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, resilient and patient approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
