Long Term Futures is recruiting for several Behaviour Mentor positions across both Primary and Secondary schools in Islington. These roles are designed for resilient and empathetic individuals who specialise in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Whether you prefer the early intervention of a primary setting or the structured environment of a secondary school, we have multiple long-term opportunities available to suit your experience.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a positive role model and mentor for pupils who find it difficult to engage in traditional classroom settings.
  • Implement bespoke behaviour management strategies to de-escalate challenging situations and encourage positive choices.
  • Work one-to-one or in small groups to help students overcome barriers to learning and improve their emotional resilience.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and class teachers to monitor progress and adjust support plans as required.
  • Facilitate a calm and focused learning environment by providing a bridge between students and their academic goals.


Essential Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or Teaching Assistant with SEMH experience.
  • Strong character with the ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging behaviour with patience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a knack for building rapport with children or young adults quickly.
  • A proactive approach to safeguarding and a commitment to the welfare of all pupils.
  • Must hold a valid enhanced DBS or be willing to undergo a new check.
