Behaviour Mentor - Aylesbury

A friendly and welcoming primary school situated in Aylesbury is currently seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join them in September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual who is committed to supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

The school is looking for a strong, resilient, and driven Behaviour Mentor who can build positive relationships and provide consistent support to a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. You will play a key role in helping the student access learning, regulate emotions, and develop confidence within the school environment.

Primary Support - Behaviour Mentor

  • Primary School located in Aylesbury
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Full-Time Position
  • Long-Term Opportunity
  • Monday to Friday
  • Working closely with the Inclusion Manager and SENCO
  • Supporting a KS1 pupil on a 1:1 basis
  • Focus on SEMH and behavioural support

The Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS1 pupil with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. The role will involve helping the student engage positively within the classroom, encouraging emotional regulation, promoting positive behaviour strategies, and supporting both social and academic development.

You will work collaboratively with teaching staff, the Inclusion Manager, SENCO, and external professionals to provide tailored support that meets the pupil''s individual needs.

Daily responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 classroom and emotional support
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Encouraging engagement in learning activities
  • Supporting emotional regulation and resilience
  • Assisting with social interaction and communication skills
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, SEN TA, Youth Worker, or Support Worker
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • The ability to remain resilient in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students
  • A proactive and positive attitude towards learning and development
