Are you passionate about helping children manage behavioural and emotional challenges and reach their full potential? We are currently looking for a caring, committed and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive school in Swindon.

This is an excellent opportunity to provide tailored support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), alongside behavioural, emotional and social needs. The position would suit experienced Behaviour Mentors, Teaching Assistants and support workers, as well as graduates or individuals looking to develop a career within Psychology, Behaviour Support, Pastoral Care, Education or SEND.



The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play an important role in helping children develop positive behaviours, confidence and emotional resilience. Your duties will include:

  • Providing individual and small-group support to children throughout the school day.
  • Developing positive and trusting relationships that help children feel safe, valued and supported.
  • Putting agreed behaviour strategies and personalised support plans into practice.
  • Helping children develop appropriate social skills, communication and positive relationships with others.
  • Supporting children to return to learning and remain engaged when behavioural or emotional difficulties arise.
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and other staff to monitor behaviour and contribute to children''s development.
  • Encouraging children to recognise their emotions, understand their behaviour and develop more positive ways of responding.
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and following all school policies and procedures, including health and safety and behaviour guidelines.


About You

We are looking for someone who is patient, calm, compassionate and resilient, with a genuine interest in supporting children who may experience behavioural, emotional or additional needs.

You will understand that challenging behaviour can often be an expression of an underlying emotional, social or additional need. The successful candidate will be able to remain composed in difficult situations, build strong relationships and provide consistent encouragement and boundaries.

Most importantly, you will be committed to helping children build confidence, develop positive coping mechanisms and overcome obstacles that may affect their education and wellbeing.
