Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Harrow.
The school caters for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a nurturing environment where young people are supported both academically and emotionally. The staff team is highly experienced and works collaboratively to help students develop confidence, self-regulation skills, and positive relationships.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who may present with challenging behaviours, emotional difficulties, or barriers to learning. You will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to engage positively with their education and reach their full potential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Supporting students during lessons and unstructured times throughout the school day
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Encouraging student engagement, attendance, and personal development
- Assisting with behaviour management and de-escalation when required
Contract Details
- Location: Harrow, North West London
- Position: Behaviour Support Assistant (SEMH)
- Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
- Full-Time: Yes
- Pay Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience
Training & Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, autism, or additional learning needs
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience in education, youth work, care, mentoring, support work, or similar settings desirable
- Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (or willingness to complete training)
To Be Eligible For This Role Through Prospero Teaching, You Must:
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
