Profile:
We are supporting a growing Waste Management company with their recruitment of a Base Manager. This role will involve overseeing daily operations, ensuring optimal resource allocation, and leading a dedicated team in maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and performance at their Wrexham site.
Main Duties of the Base Manager:
- Run the day-to-day operations at the base, making sure everything runs smoothly and meets company goals and service standards.
- Facilitate the implementation and adherence to company policies, procedures, and ISO certifications (9001, 14001, 45001).
- Lead the team on site, tracking performance, support staff development and work with HR to arrange training needs.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with HSEQ standards through routine inspections and spearhead local initiatives to enhance safety and quality in partnership with the HSEQ Director.
- Track and report monthly KPIs related to management systems to help spot risks.
- Be the go-to person for safety on-site-coach and guide staff on best HSEQ practices.
- Lead or assist in responding to local incidents, collaborating with both regional and central teams as required.
- Participate in or lead internal and external audits at the base to maintain regulatory and organizational compliance.
- Work closely with operations and sales teams to offer technical and safety input for tenders and client-specific requirements.
- Travel to other company bases when needed to share best practices or support operational assessments.
Requirements of the Base Manager:
- Proven experience managing operational teams preferably in environmental and industrial services.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and waste management protocols.
- Excellent leadership and team development capabilities.
- Ability to analyse data.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Ability to manage cross functional teams.
- Experience with audits and maintaining ISO certifications is desirable.
