Band 6 College Nurse - Hillingdon

Location: Hillingdon, West London
Salary: Band 6
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

A specialist college in Hillingdon is seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 6 College Nurse to join its multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will support young adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex medical needs, providing person-centred nursing care that promotes health, independence, dignity and inclusion.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing assessments, clinical interventions and support for learners with complex needs.
  • Manage medication, healthcare plans and medical emergencies.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, families, carers and external healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to EHCPs, reviews, individual targets and multi-agency meetings.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NMC requirements.
  • Support safeguarding and the management of adults/young people at risk.
  • Provide guidance and training to education staff around healthcare needs and specialist interventions.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audits and service development.
  • Support and supervise junior clinical staff and student nurses where appropriate.
  • Work across college sites and within the community as required.


Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Nursing degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience supporting individuals aged 16+ with severe/profound/multiple learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Experience of clinical assessment, intervention and managing a clinical caseload.
  • Understanding of EHCPs, SEND and person-centred goal setting.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills with learners, families, carers and professionals.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and use sound clinical judgement.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, professional development and high-quality care.
