We are currently seeking an interim Balance Sheet Controller, to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 6 months, requiring 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £48,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.

Background

The Financial Controlling Team is a core pillar within the Unilever Finance Operating Model and UKI MCO. The Financial Controlling Team lead the business agenda delivering proactive risk management and controls, and in partnership with UniOps are entrusted to deliver high quality accounting and process excellence. The Financial Accounting Team sit underneath the UKI CD Finance Operations Manager, the team are responsible for the Accounting, Risk and Controlling aspects of the MCO and are key in driving stewardship throughout the business. This is a rare opportunity to get real controlling experience and exposure to key controlling topics within an operating company. This role will suit an individual who is driven to deliver quickly, as well as building critical skills for longer term career advancement.

Key responsibilities will comprise:

  • Educating and upskilling CD business partners on Pandamp;L impact of balance sheet activities and reflecting this in their monthly performance calls.
  • Ownership of key financial controls ensure they are operating as intended.
  • Working with the newly created O2C 3PSP team created as a result of the iOPs transformation and ensuring rebate balances are accurate and created in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring balance sheet accruals for each account accurately reflect customer liabilities.
  • Business partner CD to enable efficient resolution of transactional andamp; balance sheet related issues.
  • Working with Order to Cash team to minimize price claims and improve customer invoice accuracy.
  • Partnering CD teams and external stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities to further drive ''right first time'' mentality across Order to Cash.

Skills Profile

  • Qualified accountant or equivalent or studying towards professional accounting qualification
  • Excellent engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to own andamp; drive the agenda for the business (pro-active andamp; independent worker)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively business partner and build connections with stakeholders without a "formal" partner relationship
  • Ability to constructively challenge assumptions and hold others accountable
  • Ability to make the complex simple.
