At any point during their journey there''s a possibility for the container totes to become stuck, or crash. It is the role of the AFC: Automation Flow Controller to clear those crashes, report the issues and ensure a continuous flow of containers. Ideal qualities of an AFC Physicality: You should be prepared to climb ladders, go up and down lots of stairs and walk between 14 000 and 32 000 steps in a day Mentality: You must be able to manage your own frustration and deal with a fair amount of pressure Technicality: Develop a working understanding of how the Automation functions, what the parts are called and how to report problems to control room Communication: As an AFC, you need be be able to clearly communicate over the radio Autonomy: An ability to self govern.
