Automation Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join a business that designs and delivers highly engineered automation and motion control systems for customers operating within safety-critical industries. Working on technically challenging, bespoke projects, you''ll play a key role in developing software that controls complex machinery used across a variety of sectors. The Role: As a Software Automation Engineer, you''ll be responsible for the design, development, testing and commissioning of PLC and HMI software for advanced automation systems. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you''ll support projects from initial concept through to commissioning, ensuring systems are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop PLC and HMI software for industrial automation systems. Produce technical documentation including Functional Design Specifications, User Requirements and Cause and Effect documentation. Develop robust, scalable software using Structured Text and Ladder Logic. Design machine network architectures and industrial communication systems. Integrate software with electrical hardware, motion control systems and distributed I/O. Test, debug and optimise automation software. Commission systems both in-house and at customer sites.
