Automation Controls Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Automation Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing site in Barnsley.

This is a hands-on role focused on PLC systems, electrical controls, automation and fault finding, supporting site reliability while driving improvements across automated production equipment.

The Role

• Fault find, diagnose and resolve PLC and automation issues
• Support and optimise electrical control systems
• Work with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs, including Logix platforms
• Maintain and troubleshoot servo drives, VFDs and inverters
• Drive automation and electrical continuous improvement projects
• Maintain electrical drawings, documentation and software backups
• Support engineers with complex electrical and controls faults
• Ensure electrical systems meet required safety and compliance standards

What We''re Looking For

• HNC or equivalent in Electrical, Controls or Automation Engineering
• Electrical/Automation Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience
• Strong PLC programming and fault-finding skills
• Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs
• Knowledge of servo drives, VFDs, inverters and industrial networks
• Manufacturing experience, ideally within a fast-paced automated environment
