Veritas Education is currently recruiting for a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Preston.

This rewarding role involves providing tailored one-to-one support for a Reception-aged pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their developmental milestones within a nurturing educational environment.

The Role

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team, you will provide personalised support that enables the pupil to engage positively with both classroom activities and social interactions.

You will play a vital role in helping the child develop communication skills, emotional regulation, independence, and confidence, whilst ensuring they feel safe, supported, and included throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Understands how to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with young children
  • Has a calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Is confident using a range of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Can identify and respond appropriately to individual triggers and sensory needs
  • Demonstrates resilience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
