THE OPPORTUNITY:
Get Recruited is working with an established and growing business based in St Albans that is looking to recruit a Quality & Compliance Officer to join its long-standing Compliance team.

This is a varied role with a strong focus on internal auditing, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, quality and environmental management systems, non-conformance and continuous improvement.

You''ll be joining a collaborative team where compliance is seen as a support function rather than simply a box-ticking exercise. You''ll work closely with teams across the business, understanding how processes operate in practice, identifying areas for improvement and helping colleagues maintain consistently high standards.

This would suit someone with a few years'' experience within as a Quality & Compliance Officer, Quality Auditor, Internal Auditor, Quality Systems Officer, Quality Systems Coordinator, Quality Assurance Officer, Quality & Environmental Officer QHSE or HSEQ Officer who enjoys the problem-solving and people side of auditing and wants to broaden their experience within compliance.

THE QUALITY & COMPLIANCE OFFICER ROLE:

• Delivering the annual internal audit programme across multiple departments, typically completing 2-3 audits per week
• Auditing processes against ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements and controlled documentation
• Reviewing departmental processes and documentation ahead of audits, preparing questions and meeting with employees and managers to understand how processes operate
• Completing clause audits against specific requirements within the relevant ISO standards
• Identifying inconsistencies, risks and opportunities for process improvement
• Producing clear audit findings and ensuring actions and non-conformances are closed within agreed timescales
• Supporting annual ISO audits and other external audits as required
• Investigating non-conformances, identifying root causes and agreeing appropriate corrective actions
• Collating and analysing quality data to identify recurring issues, trends and areas for improvement
• Producing environmental reporting covering areas such as waste and energy consumption
• Supporting quality control activity, including product checks and Certificates of Conformity for key customers
• Working alongside the Health & Safety function and providing additional support when required
• Supporting wider compliance and risk activities including risk registers, business impact assessments, business continuity, GDPR, product compliance and security
• Using Excel to download, categorise, analyse and report on compliance data
• Contributing to the continued development of the company''s management systems and compliance processes

THE PERSON:

• Previous experience within Quality, Compliance, QHSE/HSEQ, ISO Auditing or a similar environment
• Practical knowledge of ISO 9001 is essential, with exposure to ISO 14001 highly desirable
• Experience conducting internal audits and investigating non-conformances
• Strong attention to detail - this is one of the most important attributes for the role
• Confident analysing information, spotting trends and identifying potential problems
• Good Excel skills and comfortable working with data and reports
• Strong problem-solving skills with the initiative to investigate issues thoroughly
• Personable and confident communicating with employees at all levels, from operational teams through to managers
• Able to approach auditing collaboratively, helping departments improve rather than simply highlighting problems
• Positive, proactive and comfortable working as part of a close-knit team
• Keen to continue learning and developing within a broader compliance position

THE BENEFITS:

• Salary of -40,000 - -45,000, with some flexibility for an exceptional candidate
• Hybrid working following successful probation - initially 1 day from home per week, with potential for further flexibility longer term
