Audiovisual & Education Technician

Responsibilities
Provide audiovisual and related IT support services, providing technical support in teaching areas under service level agreements for meetings, lectures and conferences.Record or live stream lectures as directed using the facilities and equipment built into the lecture theatres as appropriate, edit lecture recordings, archive and distribute the recordings. Gain consent for streams or recordings from lecturing staff.Co-ordinate audiovisual support bookings for lectures, conferences and other events, confirming requests and requirements via email and telephone.Produce and update video user guides and manuals for all facilities covered by Service level agreements.Work with conference organisers to ensure that conference programmes run smoothly, presentations are in order and respond effectively to late speakers.Ensure teaching areas are set up to user requirements, audiovisual equipment is in good working order and users are familiar and sufficiently trained in the use of facilities. Undertaking occasional training sessions with key staff. Report any infrastructural or maintenance issues in teaching areas to relevant support teams (estates/IT/cleaning).Undertake weekly checks and maintenance of all facilities currently covered by service level agreements. Report all faults with recommendations for repair on a weekly basis via a formal email to all clients.Provide advanced support for PowerPoint and other presentation software to lecturers assembling their presentations.Assist AV Production staff in providing video conferencing, live streaming or lecture recording services.Assist under the supervision of AV Production staff to make video recordings in all areas of the Trust including wards, theatres, teaching areas, AandE, mortuary, animal laboratories, etc and off site.Assist under the supervision of AV Production staff to make video recordings of patients for treatment records, clinical audit, teaching, research, medico-legal, police evidence, publicity and promotional purposes. This includes recording of patients with medical conditions, surgeries and related procedures where appropriate, and handling related data with due care for confidentiality.Communicate in an empathetic manner with patients that are emotionally distressed or in pain.Responsible for the security, confidentiality and copyright of patient video images and data.Assist in the evaluation of client requests for new or upgrade of teaching facilities and monitor installations. Liaise with external providers and supervise installations ensuring specification is correct and matches any provided quotation.Ensure all consumable stock levels are maintained and re-order any stock as required. Ensure that service level agreement clients have suitable level of consumables in stock to maintain service at all times.Analyse complex audiovisual and IT faults, provide solutions and suggest replacement equipment and systems where necessary.Test, configure and install new equipment to ensure that it functions properly. Test existing equipment to ensure that it functions properly and where necessary identify faults and suggest replacement parts or solutions.Consult and advise customers on services to ensure requests are understood, undertaken and costed. Responsible for advising and problem solving in technical matters within the section and to service users.Contribute to the effective day to day running of the department, assist in the development of good working practices and help to support other members of the team.Provide training where necessary to all appropriate staff with regards to audiovisual and IT related support matters.Contribute to the business planning of the service, regarding service and technical developments. Identify areas where service should be improved and implement change where required in conjunction with the Head of Audiovisual. Responsible for the implementation of administrative and technical quality assurance standards and protocols.Work with the Head of Audiovisual to audit and update working procedures to ensure efficiency, maintain operative control and quality standards. Undertake risk assessments of the teaching areas covered by SLA agreements. Develop standard operating protocols for audiovisual and IT systems and provide the necessary staff and users with training.Implement the Trust''s policy and procedure relating to the video recording of patients - confidentiality, consent, copyright and storage.Assist the Head of Audiovisual in the development and delivery of accurate statistical data and information systems to manage the service. Maintain professional and technical knowledge and keep up-to-date with developments and innovations that have an effect on the service. Responsible for researching technological advancements for implementation to the benefit of future services.Qualifications
