We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Attendance Officer to join our busy secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This is a key role within the school, supporting student welfare and ensuring high levels of attendance and punctuality across all year groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and track student attendance daily, identifying patterns of absence and lateness
• Work closely with students, parents/carers, and staff to improve attendance levels
• Follow up on absences, including making phone calls and conducting home visits where appropriate
• Maintain accurate attendance records and produce regular reports
• Liaise with external agencies where necessary to support students with persistent absence
• Promote a positive culture of attendance throughout the school

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience in an attendance, safeguarding, or pastoral role within a school setting
• Strong knowledge of attendance procedures and relevant legislation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Confidence using school data systems (e.g. SIMS or similar)
