The Company
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Birmingham office of a well-established, privately owned multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering integrated technical, engineering and development consultancy services across the UK.
The business specialises in providing a holistic approach to project delivery, bringing together expertise across multiple disciplines to support clients on complex development and infrastructure schemes. Working closely with developers, infrastructure providers, commercial clients and public sector organisations, they provide trusted advice and coordinated solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle, from early feasibility and planning stages through to detailed design, construction and handover.
Their Building Services team forms a key part of the wider consultancy, delivering innovative and energy-focused Mechanical and Electrical (MandE) design solutions across a diverse range of sectors including residential, commercial, education, cultural, industrial and regeneration developments.
Joining the Birmingham office, you will become part of a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, working alongside experienced engineers, technicians and consultants to deliver high-quality mechanical design solutions on complex projects across the UK. The Role
As an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role within the Building Services team, leading the delivery of mechanical design solutions across a range of sectors. You will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, supporting project delivery from concept and detailed design through to construction and handover.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to progress into an Associate-level position, taking responsibility for project delivery, client relationships, technical guidance and supporting the continued development of junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical building services design across a variety of sectors and project types.
- Produce and review mechanical calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
- Take responsibility for mechanical design solutions including HVAC systems, heating, cooling, ventilation and associated building services.
- Oversee and contribute to drawing production using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Provide technical leadership from concept design through to detailed design, coordination and construction support.
- Undertake and review surveys of existing mechanical systems, producing clear technical reports.
- Prepare and review tender documentation, providing technical guidance and support to project teams.
- Monitor construction progress and provide technical input during project delivery.
- Support commissioning activities and ensure successful project handover.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors and wider design teams.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, helping develop technical capability within the team.
- Ensure compliance with company QA procedures and promote best practice across all projects.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
