Associate Fire Engineer
A well-established and growing multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Fire Engineer to join their expanding fire safety team.
This Associate Fire Engineer opportunity offers the chance to work across a broad range of high-risk and complex projects within the built environment, including residential, mixed-use, and education sectors.
The Associate Fire Engineer will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality fire engineering services while supporting the continued growth of the team.
The Associate Fire Engineer''s Role
The Associate Fire Engineer will be involved in a wide scope of fire engineering and fire safety services, contributing to both technical delivery and strategic input. The Associate Fire Engineer will work across projects nationwide, supporting design, compliance, and construction phases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering fire engineering analysis, fire strategies, and compliance assessments
- Leading design reviews, due diligence, and construction fire safety strategies
- Undertaking and overseeing CFD and evacuation modelling
- Providing fire safety advice including mitigation strategies and remediation support
- Overseeing compartmentation surveys, fire door inspections, and fire risk assessments
- Supporting fa-ade assessments and external wall reviews in line with PAS 9980
- Assisting with BSR Gateway submissions and regulatory compliance
- Contributing to expert witness work and forensic investigations where required
- Managing client relationships and supporting business growth
The Associate Fire Engineer
The ideal Associate Fire Engineer will be technically strong, commercially aware, and capable of leading projects and teams. The Associate Fire Engineer will have a strong understanding of fire safety legislation, industry standards, and best practice within the built environment.
Requirements include:
- A degree in Fire Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered status (or equivalent experience)
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as the IFE
- Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act
- Experience with standards such as BS 9991, BS 9999, and BS 7974
- Understanding of PAS 9980 and fa-ade/fire safety considerations
- Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing consultancy skills
- Experience working on complex or high-risk building projects
